Are peptides legal in Iran?
In Iran, medicines are tightly regulated by the Iran Food and Drug Administration (IFDA). Production, import, distribution, and prescription of medicines not on the national Iran Medicine List (IML) are restricted, though a controlled mechanism exists for essential medicines outside the list. Peptides sold as research chemicals fall outside authorised supply and carry meaningful legal and quality risk.
Approved prescription medicines
Peptide medicines listed on the IML and registered by the IFDA are the authorised, lawful route and are dispensed under medical supervision. The IFDA regulates registration of new medicines and the medicines supply chain.
Research-use-only peptides
National law restricts production, import, distribution, and prescription of medicines not included on the IML. A peptide sold as "research use only" is not an authorised medicine, so consumer supply for human use sits outside the lawful framework. As with everywhere, the research-only label offers no assurance of identity or purity.
Personal import
Imported medicines are expected to come from licensed manufacturers and to be authorised by the health authority of the country of origin, with the IFDA operating a mechanism for accessing essential medicines that are not on the IML. This is a regulated channel, not an open allowance for ordering unapproved peptides online. Note that international sanctions can additionally complicate lawful cross-border pharmaceutical trade with Iran.
Sport and anti-doping
Iran participates in the WADA framework through its national anti-doping organisation. Class S2 peptide hormones, growth factors, GHRH/GHRP analogues, and related substances are banned for athletes at all times.

- Import, distribution, and prescription of non-listed medicines are restricted, with a controlled exception mechanism for essential medicines.
- "Research use only" peptides sit outside authorised supply; sanctions can further complicate cross-border trade.
- WADA class S2 applies — these peptides are banned in sport.
